The crane is a brilliant piece of engineering for lifting heavy loads across distance. But it's not a scissor lift. Similarly, I've learned that Tadano's parts portal and global service network are incredible when you need a genuine Demag boom section for a 500-ton crawler, but they won't help you wire a GFCI breaker or choose a boom lift for warehouse maintenance.
I'm not saying never use a crane with a basket — there are legitimate uses, like short-term inspection or one-off lifts. But when you need sustained precision access for a crew of four, the scissor lift wins every time. And the vendor who says "this isn't our strength" — like the Tadano dealer who warned me against the basket idea — earns way more trust than the one who just takes your order.
